Design is an ideal: simplicity, connection, movement, evolution, and relation of power. Through digital media, entirely new landscapes emerge from pure constructs of the electronic domain. Atmospheric and architectural spaces collide with text and coded numeric alphabets mapping out invisible structures that lie within the framework.
The images on display call back to the renaissance master’s art of illusion from the technological age. The heavens burst with light and black is truly black, and yet no ground is offered for a person to stand on, leaving the viewer free to reevaluate scale, depth and their own body’s relativity.
CTR.ALT.DESIGN is a collection of work that pursues the ideal of design as that which can step beyond its own inherent commercial use to convey ideas of the unknown and the unexplored, ideas of the self, that which cannot be defined. Physicalized as large-scale digital prints on photo paper, electricity and the ethereal become tangible. Clustered in the same space, communication becomes shape, lines become form, and images become cosmic action.
